Work Experience Highlights at Bowden House School – 2024

We are pleased to share that 2024 has been a highly successful year for our students in terms of work experience placements at Bowden House School. Through valuable partnerships with local businesses and organizations, our students have gained first-hand insight into the world of work and developed a wide range of skills that will benefit them in their future careers.

One of our students has been gaining practical experience in our school kitchen and dining room. He has been supporting staff with meal preparation and service, where he has demonstrated excellent teamwork and attention to detail. His enthusiasm for the role has made a significant impact, and he has quickly developed an understanding of the daily operations in the kitchen.

Additionally, a Year 11 student has been attending weekly work experience at the Cuckmere Bike Hire Centre. During his placement, he has been involved in tasks such as bike cleaning and repairs, developing both technical skills and a strong sense of responsibility.

We are also thrilled to have a student from Year 8 contributing to the local aquarium shop on a half-day basis each week. His work has ranged from assisting with shop duties to engaging with customers, offering him valuable experience in retail and customer service while learning about marine life.

In addition, we have formed a successful partnership with Morrisons supermarket, where two students are gaining invaluable retail experience. These students have the opportunity to participate in a four-week cycle, spending one day a week at the supermarket. Their responsibilities include customer service, stock replenishment (particularly in the fresh produce section), and assisting at the tills, providing them with a well-rounded understanding of retail operations.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our local partners for their continued support in providing these essential work experience opportunities. These placements not only enhance our students’ learning but also prepare them for the future by helping them develop practical skills, improve their employability, and explore potential career pathways.
